Is there any way to put text in copper on a PCB symbol?
I can put text on silk screen and dimensions layers but not copper layers.
The requirement is to allow pin idents on a particular symbol that will be used on a PCB without silkscreen.

I understand your concern about tracks. In this case tracks will always be on the other side (some pins are at 2000 volts relative to other pins).
I have put 'floating text' on the artwork in this case. Having to edit this where the same part is used all over the PCB is difficult, as copy and paste tends to capture other items. I have done that for the current application but I am trying to make it easier for future uses of the part.

I don't think that it can (or should be) added to the component symbol as another pcb design may require tracks where the text is placed. However, you can simply add "floating" text in copper to any pcb design as and wherever you want it.
