Posted - 08 Sep 2008 : 11:28:12 Hi,
When I go to edit a part in the PCB symbol editor, the units are in Thou. I have all my technology files set up in mm, and (I just checked) the ptf file it is set to use is definitely in mm. This does not happen if I try to create a new symbol, just if I try to edit one.
I don't know if this is a bug, or if I'm doing something wrong, but I'm sure it never used to do this!
[edit] I've just found that it does this in the schematic symbol editor too.[/]
Best wishes, Olga. |

No, I don't think you're missing anything. I've raised this one with the programming team, and they can't explain it either - so it's now logged as a bug.
Hehe! Thanks for reassuring me of my sanity!

Posted - 17 Sep 2008 : 11:20:50 OK, I must be missing something.
I've got the technology file for New/Edit component set to what I want, and it works for New, but not Edit. Surely they are supposed to use the same tech file; after all, that must be the point of having that option in the library manager!
Is there some other file that I've managed to lose in my idiosyncratic system, or have I got completely the wrong end of the stick?!
Best wishes, Olga. |

I'll do as you suggested; thank you :) |

Posted - 11 Sep 2008 : 11:03:15 With effect from V12, there are four, not two default technology files. You've probably changed the defaults for schematic and pcb designs, but have you also done so for symbols?
The 'official' way of doing this is to do it from the [Tech Files] button in the library manager, but I usually find it easier to use the [File], [New] dialogue, select the relevant item and tech. file, then open a new one and throw it away. It's easier and faster. |
